What is a control valve?

Control valves, also known as valves, are control components in the fluid delivery system, with the functions of guiding, intercepting, regulating, throttling, preventing backflow, diverting or overflowing pressure relief. Can be used to control air, water, steam, a variety of corrosive chemical media, slurry, liquid metals and radioactive substances and other types of fluid activity.

Role and use of control valves

  1. Control valves: used to regulate the flow of media, pressure, etc. (control valves, throttle valves, pressure reducing valves).
  2. Diverter valve: used to separate, distribute live mixed media (distribution valves, traps).
  3. Pressure Reducing Valves: used to regulate and control the pressure of liquids, gases or steam. Its function is to reduce a high pressure fluid medium to a controlled low pressure to ensure the safe operation of piping and equipment.
  4. Cut-off valve: used to cut off or connect the media flow (gate valve, globe valve, diaphragm valve, ball valve, plug valve, butterfly valve, plunger valve, ball valve, needle instrumentation valves, etc.)
  5. Check valve: used to stop the medium backflow.

Control valves by pressure points

  1. Vacuum valve: working pressure less than standard atmospheric pressure;
  2. Low pressure valve: PN less than or equal to 1.6MPa;
  3. Medium pressure valve: PN between 2.5–6.4MPa;
  4. High pressure valve: PN between 10.0–80.0MPa;
  5. Ultra-high pressure valves: PN greater than or equal to 100MPa.

Control Valves Types – Functions Applications and its Construction

KOTECH pneumatic stainless steel globe valve adopts double-acting cylinder, with the upper chamber air inlet or lower chamber air inlet to control the valve remotely, easy to operate and flexible.

Cylinder with medium: compressed air, nitrogen. Simple structure, easy to manufacture and maintain; small working stroke, short opening and closing time; the sealing surface of the closing body (valve flap) and valve seat adopts cone seal, small closing force, scuffing resistance, reliable sealing.

Valve seat can be replaced for the seat, can be arbitrarily combined with the sealing surface of the closing parts of the material pairing to meet the requirements of working conditions, to extend the service life.

Pneumatic stainless steel globe valve structural features:

1. Selection of materials is exquisite, in line with domestic and foreign relevant standards, reasonable structure, beautiful modelling.
2. Valve flap and seat sealing surface is made of iron-based alloy surfacing or Stellite (Slite) cobalt-based hard alloy surfacing, which is wear-resistant, high-temperature-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and has good anti-scratch performance and long service life.
4. The valve stem is tempered and surface nitriding treatment, has good corrosion resistance and anti-scratch.
5. Various piping flange standards and flange sealing surface type can be used to meet various engineering needs and user requirements.
6. The valve body material varieties, packing, gaskets can be based on the actual working conditions or user requirements reasonable selection, can be applied to a variety of pressures, temperatures and medium conditions.
7. Inverted sealing using threaded sealing seat or body surfacing austenitic stainless steel and become reliable sealing, replacement of packing can be carried out without stopping, convenient and quick, does not affect the operation of the system.
